Management & Supervision
Owners On-Site
During the construction phase, site supervisor and owner Darcy Friesen is on site full-time supervising all trades, performing structural and finishing carpentry, receiving materials, coordinating building and engineering inspections, and quality assuring each stage of your new home construction.
Stages of Construction
The steps contained in each of the following stages is explained in greater depth in the Responsibilities section.
- Footings & foundation rep
- Foundation pouring
- Structural framing
- Exterior envelope
- Interior framing
- Interior rough in
- Roofing
- Exterior finishing

Visiting the Site
In addition to scheduled project inspections, you're welcome to visit the site anytime. However, for safety and Q+A purposes, our preference is to give us a heads up before you come. Hours for trades are Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (stat holidays observed).
Electricity & Water
The supply of electricity and water to the building site is the responsibility of the homeowner. Solutions for both are location dependent and will addressed during the planning stage. Electricity options include arranging temporary power service (power pole) or use of a generator. Until the waterline is roughed in, supply from a water truck may be required (Straight Up provides a provision in the budget).
Site Setup & Maintenance
Site preparation begins with parking our tool trailers onsite, protecting neighbouring properties, creating a lay down area for materials, and the delivery of excavators, dump trailers, and a portable toilet. The construction site will kept tidy (clean as we go) and receive a major weekly cleaning every Friday.
